A Veteran in More Than One Way
A military veteran, Ron Eldred is also a veteran of the plumbing industry. He owns Mr. Rooter® Plumbing of Irish Hills franchise in Brooklyn, Michigan. Before joining the Mr. Rooter family in 2006, Ron owned and operated a plumbing and carpet cleaning business for 21 years.
He credits his success in the plumbing industry to his background in the military and what he learned from that experience. Stationed mainly in Germany, Ron served almost two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. During his time in the military, he earned the rank of Specialist 4.
Ron opened his Mr. Rooter franchise with the assistance of the VetFran program, which provides incentives and discounts for honorably discharged U.S. veterans. Along with his wife Chris, he operates a two-truck fleet with five team members. The shop provides full-service plumbing and drain cleaning services to the counties of Lenawee, Jackson and Hillsdale in Michigan.

Chris Loudermilk served as Director of Military Development for more than two years with The Dwyer Group, Inc. and was recently promoted into a role with Mr. Rooter® Plumbing, a subsidiary of the company where he helps his franchisees grow their businesses. He is a member of the International Franchise Association’s VetFran committee and has helped spearhead many efforts in facilitating the link up between veterans and franchisors. He founded The Dwyer Group’s PAVE (Program for Assisting Veteran Entrepreneurship) which encompasses assisting veterans find financing, acquiring vendor discounts, and providing mentorship from franchisees to name a few. This program works in conjunction with the VetFran program, which the late Don Dwyer started.
